Nokia Releases N91, First Hard Drive Phone in US

Nokia’s new N91, the first hard-drive-based phone in the US, appeared on the Nokia USA Web site with a surprisingly reasonable $599.99 price. It is a Symbian Series 60 smartphone with a 4 gigabyte hard drive and 2-megapixel digital camera. This cellphone supports MP3, AAC, or WMA format. N91 also supports FM radio. The phone connects to the Internet via either EDGE or Wi-Fi. It is now available at Nokia’s new store in Chicago

LG CU500

LG's new phone is not a RAZR clone. It's just as slim and, like the hot Samsung a900 Blade for Sprint, it owes much of its appeal to Motorola's revolutionary handset. But a clone is an imitation, often a pale one. My instinct is that what Motorola started with the RAZR, other companies mean to finish

Pantech IM-S110 Ultra Slim Cellphone

Pantech IM-S110 is an ultra slim phone with a 3.2MP Camera, a Mp3 player, a FM Tuner and a miniSD, available in Pink or White. There’s a built in dictionary for translating between Korean and English.

LG U400 with DJ Effects

Does scratching make your heart sing? Are you a firm believer in Turntablism? Does this mean anything to you? If so, you're probably going to love the new 3G U400 phone from LG, as they've aimed it firmly at the yoof music market with heaps of DJ-like features.

You'll notice the scrollwheel on the left, which acts in a similar way to that on an iPod. It also allows you to make silly scratching noises over any track you play on the inbuilt MP3 player

LG Unveils The UK's First 5 Mega-Pixel Digital Camera Phone

LG Mobile (LG) announces the first 5 Mega-Pixel digital camera phone to arrive in the UK, the LG KG920. Leading the camera phone market, LG Mobile bring the KG920 to the UK in silver with a unique camera-style form, the KG920 boasts an innovative twist design that allows the camera to rotate up to 180 degrees.

LG P7200

The P7200 comes in a distinctive black color. The phone itself is quite ergonomic, measures 96mm x 50mm x 17mm and weighs about 112 grams. Being black makes this baby chic, due to the brushed finishing and the handset's overall weight. The build is extremely sturdy, and scratch resistance is above average.

One noticeable feature of the P7200 is its Motorola RAZR-inspired keypad. From the blue backlight to the tactile feeling, not only does it look similar, it actually feels similar.

LG Ships U880 Ultra-Slim 3G WCDMA Cell Phone

LG Electronics has announced today that they will begin shipping their ultra-slim 18.2mm 3G WCDMA cell phone, the LG-U880 to 3. This is the thinnest WCDMA cell phone ever to be released, almost as slim as the famous Motorola RAZR, but note quite.

The LG-U880 will be released in a variety of colours; glossy black, matte black, silver and pink, with a fancy fold-up style design it competes well with the RAZR. An embedded 75MB of memory and expandable memory through Transflash provides various storage options for playing back your MP3 tracks, storage of photographs and video from the 1.3 megapixel camera, or just keeping a huge collection of emails on hand. Bluetooth is also supported for hands-free and stereo headsets.

LG phone : LG VX8600 Chocolate Flip Phone Hits Verizon Stores: Same Phone, New Body

version woreless users with a sweet tooth take note: the much anticipated clamshell version of the LG Chocolate phone—the LG VX8600—is now available at your friendly neighborhood VZW store. It's pretty much the same as the slider version of the Chocolate that's been available for a few months now (touch-sensitive buttons and all), but now people can pretend to look cool as they flip their cellphone open. (Folks, that stopped being cool 14 seconds after the first person did it.) The cellphone is compatible with Verzion's V-Cast service for downloading video clips, music, etc. It sports a 1.3-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, a microSD card slot and a dedicated music mode, which makes sense given that they've been trying to market the thing as the next iPod.

LG enV first thoughts

The new LG enV (say that time five times fast) for Verizon Wireless has been one of the most anticipated cell phones of the autumn season, and it just landed in our hot little hands. As the successor to the LG VX9800, the enV (or VX9900) inherits the popular QWERTY keyboard, but it adds a number of feature and design improvements. The enV officially goes on sale Monday, November 27, just in time for the holiday shopping madness. We expect it to fetch $150 with service. Here are our initial impressions.

Design
Though the enV inherits the VX9800's overall form factor, LG seems to have learned from some of its previous mistakes. Yes, the enV still is boxy, but smoother lines give it a more appealing look. Its thinner and narrower than its predecessor even if it is a tad taller. And though it's still hefty at 4.6 ounces, it's noticeably lighter than the VX9800 and feels more comfortable in the hand.

After crowning the West Coast champ last month, the winner of LG's National Texting Championship will be determined tomorrow night in New York, with $25,000 at stake.

The East Coast "texthletes" will use their enV or V handsets to compete in single-elimination brackets to determine the East Coast champ. That person wins $10,000, and later that day they will take on Eli Tirosh (who won the West Coast crown) for an extra $15,000.

Registration is still open as of press time, and it seems like it could be worth your time even if you don't have the swiftest of thumbs. According to one account of the West Coast texting tournament, LG gave some of the participants a few of its plasma-screen TVs, or various gift certificates.

Nokia Design Thoughts: Simplicity

The new Nokia 6255 - a CDMA flip phone with video functionality running on the "Series 45" platform, will be launched soon and you can see that unlike many of their recent phone launches, Nokia has gone back to basics on the design. Fantastic. That phone is truly lustworthy - and not just because of the functionality, but because of the clean lines and useful design.

I think all of us Nokia fans are pretty sick of the wacky unusable keypads, odd shapes, and questionable usability aren't we? I mean, more power to Nokia for having the kahunas to try something new, but I'm sick of being an apologist. "Look at this great phone! Yeah, yeah, I know it's a bit weird. But it's so cool!" Now that they've been bitchslapped by the market in the last quarter it looks like they're going to get back to basics. Actually the quid-pro-quo may not be direct since the design for the 6255 probably happened years ago, but I think that they'll now make more of an effort go in that direction, starting with this phone.

I expect the 6255 to be huge success because it's both clean and functional. What's the hottest consumer product on the market right now? Right - the iPod Mini. Look at it. It's *ridiculously* simple in design and usability. It's not over-designed, it's not shockingly new, it's elegant and beautiful and clean. This is the future of all mobile products.

Consumers like simplicity, cleanliness and functionality. Apple truly understands this as does Sony - look at the PowerBooks and the SonyEricsson Z700 for examples. Look at TiVo. It should be a mantra for any consumer product development team: simplicity and functionality. The 6255 is a fantastic phone for this reason. It's not boring, it's beautiful. We've got enough clutter in our lives, no? The devices we carry with us during almost all our waking ours should not add to it.

nokia phone : 3GSM New Phone Report: 6110 Navigator

Nokia's first ever true navigation phone was released yesterday at the 3GSM conference. It's a slider with this weird funky grey panel coloring that just doesn't seem right.

Man, I cannot get over that greyness. Ugh.

The 6110 Navigator has a built-in GPS and software that can do turn-by-turn directions as well as highlight points of interest. (sound familiar?) There's also voice instructions this time around though.

Expect the 6110 to be released in the second quarter of 2007.

I might have to add in very fine print: the Smart2Go application is now available on the smart2go web site. Grab it before Nokia decides to something wicked and replace it with a "Coming Soon" logo.

Nokia black Phone : 3GSM New Phone Report Nokia N77 Phone

Just when you thought that mobile TV was out of style (in other words, what happened to the N92?), Nokia comes back with a candy bar no less, headed straight for DVB-H. The N77 "multimedia computer" has a 2.4" screen, stereo sound, and gimmicky TV watching software features.

And you know what, I don't like it at all. It has that recessed or pressed in-kind-of-look which is just horrendous, and how are you supposed to watch TV on this thing? At least the defunct N92 and N93/N93i had tiltable screens so you could adjust the angle. Then again, those are flip phones. This isn't.

Ugliness is in the hands of the beholder, so I won't make any more fruitless comments about it. From the angle in the picture though, it looks hella thick.

Of course, we won't be seeing the N77 in the good 'ol USA any time in the near future. Still, the N77 will start shipping sometime in the second quarter of 2007.

Nokia Phone : Nokia Reveals Clamshell Designs

Nokia today revealed the company’s first ever flip phone designs at the Nokia Connection conference. The Nokia 6260, 6170, and 2650 are all clamshell handsets that are expected to start shipping in Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and Americas in third quarter, 2004.

Nokia 6260
The Nokia 6260 smartphone, a high-performance business phone designed for mobile professionals offers the latest mobile technology features and applications, including push to talk, email, Bluetooth connectivity and a VGA camera in an innovative fold design. The tri-band Nokia 6260 smartphone is based on the Symbian operating system and Series 60, the world's leading smartphone platform. As for the design: it is more than just a clamshell, it's a fold with a twist!

Also flexible in functionality and design, the 6260 can be opened to talk, fold it with the display facing out to browse the web or access applications, twist the display to activate the camera, or close it flat to slip into your briefcase. As a work companion, the Nokia 6260 boosts efficiency by enabling people to initiate a quick discussion with colleagues and even groups, at the touch of a single button using push to talk. The presence-enhanced contacts service also alerts personal and professional contacts on your availability, potentially saving time for both parties. Email is at hand, and the presentation and document viewer allows users to view compatible attachments directly on their phone. Additionally, data synchronization enables local or remote updates of calendar, contacts and to-do lists.

Nokia N90 announced, high-end camera phone

Nokia has announced the N90, a high-end camera phone with Carl Zeiss optics. The twist-style phone features two displays and a lot of extras:

* 352 x 416 pixel main display
* Bluetooth
* 2 megapixel autofocus camera with flash and video capture
* 31MB memory plus RS-MMC slot (64MB card included)
* GSM 900/1800/1900, EDGE and WCDMA

The Nokia N90 is slated to ship in the second quarter. Pricing was not announced.

LG’s Black Saphire MG810: The Choco-Flip Phone

If you are looking out for a new Chocolate flip phone then you should end your search as LG Brasil has rolled out the new Black Sapphire MG810 (also called the VX8600, and U830).

The Black Sapphire MG810 comes feature-packed with a 1.3 megapixel camera, 176 x 220 internal display (and 96x 96 external), media player that supports MP3 and AAC, Bluetooth, FM radio, 128MB of flash memory, and GRPS.

But, I don’t find that its stout price of $465 justifies the story honestly. However, the specs are not the issue here. Everything is the stylish design and the trend.

6MP Camera Phone - X5000 from Grundig

Just when you thought we"d had enough mobile phone news for the day, we figured we"d sneak in one more new item, this time disguised as a digital camera story. Grundig has just announced what we think is the first digital camera with a phone built into it.

img27The new X5000 specifications revealed at the 3GSM conference reveal that this device is really more of a camera than a phone.

First of all, the basic specification reveals that this is a 6MP pixel camera. While we suspect that it uses a smaller than normal CCD to capture the 6MP, we"re pretty sure it will keep folks from the "bigger is better" school of thought happy.

The specs also boast of a 16 million color, 640×240 display which makes it almost suitable for browsing web sites and doing justice to video downloads. This is definately one of the larger displays we"ve heard of in the last month or two.

Another first that we"ve heard of is a TV out connection which will allow you to connect your phone and show people your drunken pub videos with extreme amounts of ease.

The camera can reportedly capture "DVD Quality" video and VGA (640×480) resolutions at 30fps in MOV, ASF and AVI formats, which makes it a very decent digital camcorder — except for the fact that it has less than 20MB internal storage. Come on Grundig .. you could have just added some NAND based flash or a microdrive into this device! The storage can be expanded with an additional MiniSD card.

Panasonic : Digital phone, KXTG7100ES DECT

Panasonic KXTG7100ES digital phone, with a curvaceous base unit that incorporates a speakerphone. It has an illuminated 3-line LCD screen and keypad, and when the phone rings a LED light comes on to warn you.

DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) is a digital wireless technology which is now being adopted increasingly worldwide, in particular for cordless telephones. Key benefits are high speech quality with less interference and increased range (50m indoors, 300m outdoors). You can have up to six handsets for each base station, making internal calls and call transfers between handsets possible. DECT is digital and eavesdropping is almost impossible.

New Pantech advanced camera phone

Sung-Kyu Lee, President & CEO of Pantech Co., said: “Pantech is already a leader, in terms of combining innovative design concepts with increasingly advanced functionality. With the advent of the sleek PG-8000 handset, we are looking to offer this unique combination to the global market. The phone looks just like a digital camera and is likely to be extremely popular with users who enjoy photography. Along with the extensive music and entertainment applications, we feel that - in the PG-8000 - we are offering users a groundbreaking new multimedia experience.”

T-mobile phone : Back pocket broadband!

T-Mobile’s new smart phone pulls in data with landline-threatening brevity.

Vario II packs broadband speeds into a pocket-sized handset - very impressive... [more images]

We’ve just clapped eyes on T-Mobile’s swanky new smart phone, the Vario II, and we have to say, it’s a belter!

While it doesn’t look drastically different to its predecessor, and you can compare for yourself in our gallery, take a peek under the bonnet and you’ll find there’s been some serious tuning going on.

For a start, the phone uses HSDPA to rip data from the sky at an astonishing 1.8 megabits per second. That’s faster than some home broadband services, and four times quicker than standard 3G.

There’s a souped-up camera too, replacing the original Vario’s peeper with a 2-megapixel upgrade, and that’s aside from Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Blackberry compatibility.

The whole package comes bundled in a limited edition red and silver shell, while T-Mobile’s Web’n’Walk tariffs mean there’s no limit on web usage wherever you are.

You can use the phone as a modem too, picking up broadband access for your laptop wherever Wi-Fi’s unavailable.

We’ll be getting our hands on the Vario II for a closer look in the next few days, so keep it locked for the latest smart phone goodness.

Motorola phone : Z Silver Slider Phone Launched

motorola black phone
motorola has just showcased its new slider phone in Korea, the Motorola Z Silver which is also the second RAZR-like phone and the successor for Motorola Z (MX600) which had been released in March. It is just a hair thicker than the RAZR V3 and still sports a large 2.2" 262k color display, 1.3 megapixel camera and an MP3 player. Motorola Z Silver is just 14.8mm thick the one bad thing about this machine living in the USA, it is only available in South Korea. No words on the availability or pricing.

smasung phone : Samsung Z230 Red Edition Phone

Ah, Samsung, you keep bringing us the latest in cell phone technology. When will you quit? That wasn’t sarcasm, by the way. The latest model, the Z230 Red Edition definitely proves that red is the new black. (This is assuming most of you have a black cell phone.)

Anyway, the Z230 is a lovely crimson clamshell number that comes with a lot of cool features. First of all, it is a GSM/UMTS unit with talk mode of 3.5 hours (250 standby). The memory is about 28 MB, plus a microSD (TransFlash) expansion connector. It also has a 1.3 Megapixel camera that can actually record video as well. It even has an extra VGA-camera for videocalls. All this, plus an integrated video and audio player.

Sort of makes you wonder when it will be out, doesn’t it? Yeah, me too. I’m also wondering about the price.

वायरलेस वोइप phone

3Com has recently released an addition to the cordless VoIP phone market directed at business customers who want to be able to roam around the building and not be tied to a cord when using VoIP technology.

The new wireless VoIP phone utilizes Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) so it will work with most standard networking equipment and wireless LAN’s just as your wireless PC connection would.

The technology of the phone allows people to transfer calls to other employees with a VoIP phone, reach a central administrative number, retrieve your voicemail and even read email over the phone. The advantage of this along with other wireless VoIP solutions is that you can take advantage of the lower rates of using VoIP services and still have the convenience of a wireless phone. It does however require you to be within range of the WiFi like a normal home wireless phone would be, and does not provide the range of mobile phone would.

Releasing with a common clamshell style phone, the 3Com 3108 will use a protected access and encryption and is expected to be available for $415 USD.

ETEN Phone : E-TEN x500 Glofiish comes rebranded as Pharos GPS Phone

E-TEN x500 Glofiish comes rebranded as Pharos GPS Phone
the recently announced E-TEN x500 Glofiish has come in new shape. It has ben rebranded by as the Pharos GPS Phone.

Dubbed GPS Phone (we really think calling it The GPS Phone would be much more potent), it's got all the specs we knew this phone was packing, including: SiRFStarIII GPS receiver (duh) with Pharos Ostia nav software, quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE (sigh), WiFi, Bluetooth, a 2 megapixel camera, FM radio (o rly!), and a friggin fat $699 price tag. Now, we're not necessarily saying $700 for a GPS-equipped Pocket PC is too much, but we really do wish they could have shaved $5 off the top of that margin and dropped in a damned UMTS / HSDPA radio, you know?
